But Australians played together with New Zealanders from 1905 till 1919 and won six titles during this time.
With coming of Open Era and federations of tennis in different countries of the world tennis has been developing in different parts of the world and has lost sport’s image of privileged category in the English-speaking countries. Starting from 70s of 20th century tennis players of Germany, Czechoslovakia, Sweden, Russia and many other countries shone on tennis courts.
In 1970s, Associations Tennis Professionals (ATP) have introduced ranking, that reflects correlation of forces among the tennis players. At the beginning of starting of such ranking (1973), more than twenty tennis players were the first racket in the world. The most famous of them are Jimmi Connors, Ivan Lendl, Pete Sampras, Roger Federes.The fisrt tennis player who was awarded to this title was Ilie Nastase. He was the first position in this ranking during the 40 weeks. Ilie Nastase is the only twice possessor of the Grand Slam. Analogous to men ranking women ranking WTA was introduced in 1975. 19 tennis players have had the first position in this ranking. Chris Evert is the fist possessor of this title. Martina Navratilova Steffi Graf took the first position during five years.
